THE ARCHIVE IS OPEN TO YOUR INTERPRETATION
One short passage. One disputed word. A place to give your reading without first finishing the novel.
Finishing After the Sleeper made the whole novel available. It did not make every question inside it settled. The next step for The Sleeper Archive is to invite readers into those questions, beginning with a small piece of evidence rather than a request to join another platform.
In Chapter I, the heading on a notice reads DEATH REPORTED. The prepared public announcement says DEATH CONFIRMED. The examiner has not returned, and the people preparing the announcement have not spoken to her. Eliza asks that the distinction remain.
Our first discussion, The Disputed Record, asks what evidence you would require before changing that word. Five paragraphs from the current chapter provide the context. No familiarity with Wells, full-book reading commitment or Discord account is needed.
A reading, not a popularity contest
You can now respond directly beneath the passage. Choose the wording you would retain, explain what would change your mind, and leave a name or email only if you wish. Responses enter private review; they do not appear automatically as comments. Permission to quote anonymously is optional, and newsletter consent remains entirely separate.
This is not a vote to rewrite the novel. The useful contribution is the reasoning: which detail matters to you, what remains uncertain, or where another reader might reasonably disagree. Email and Discord remain alternatives.
One useful turn
For players, NO MASTER: Hidden Mandate offers another small starting point: try a browser match and identify the first turn that sends you back to the rules. The game export has been packaged and browser-tested for a possible itch.io release. It has not yet been published there.
We are opening these invitations before claiming any results. There are no manufactured testimonials or participation totals. The next worthwhile update will come from what people actually notice, and from a considered response to it.
